We stopped by while visiting the area after hearing from multiple people that this was the spot for dinner. We had been adventuring all day and we ended up arriving in time to get a food order in with the kitchen before they switched over to drinks only. We ordered the Italian Mojito, Antipasti with Prosciutto Cotto and Scamorza Affumicate, the Nonna's Meatballs, Porchetta Crostone, and Sicilian Paccheri. The mojito was delicious and had a limoncello foam on it. Very refreshing. The antipasti was truly the highlight of the meal. The meat and cheese was delicious and the bread and onion chutney was perfect with them. If we visit again we would definitely would do more of the antipasti. The Nonna's meatballs were served in a bread bowl. These were ok, but didn't blow us away. However, the bread bowl was perfect for getting extra sauce from the other dishes. The Porchetta Crostone was a highlight of the meal. Very flavorful, the bread was crispy and it was a good mix of sweet and salty. This would be something we'd order again as well. The Sicilian Paccheri was a pistachio pesto pasta and was cooked al dente and was a very tasty pasta: they were generous with the sauce too so we dipped the bread from the Nonna's meatballs in the sauce as well. It wasn't too busy while we were there and we were amongst the last customers there for the evening. The staff was friendly and they were able to bring out our food pretty quickly. The restaurant would be good for date nights, meet ups and small or large groups. While we were there a group of about ten was wrapping up and seemed to have an amazing time as well.

I generally am not impressed by Italian restaurants, but this one certainly gained my respect. The menu is uniquely printed on a newspaper-like texture and lists a variety of authentic Italian cuisine. ----- Sicilian "Mezzi Paccheri": short large pasta tubes tossed in a cream of pistachio, topped with silky Stracciatella Mozzarella & giant fresh prawn tails, olive oil & basil (£15.95). I had picked this one because I had not heard of pistachio as the base for pasta sauce before. The combination turned out splendid and the pasta itself was cooked the perfect amount of time. I liked that the dish was topped with whole shrimp and the meat was not tough. The wording on the plate was funny too. ----- Crab & Seabass Ink Ravioli: fresh squid ink ravioli filled with seabass & crab meat, in a slow cooked tasty Mediterranean octopus ragu (£18.95). ----- Make sure to book a table. We had a change of plans and suddenly stopped by Friday evening at 6 PM. The place was absolutely packed with both indoor and outdoor seats filled. Fortunately a couple of bar seats were still available, and so we sat in the back next to a deli selling certain items. A 10% service charge is automatically added onto the bill. First time at Livin Italy. Personally think Leeds lacks some good italian dining options (aside from chains like Pizza Express and Ask Italian). Livin Italy certainly makes up for it though! A great choice of pizza, pasta and other dishes .. though some aren't traditionally Italian they definitely give you a great choice of toppings! Reasonably priced too for the quality.

I was in town and staying at the Double Tree decided to go over for dinner. When I entered the downstairs looked mostly like a bar, which worked for me. I was created and one Told them dinner for one i was taken toward the back, glanced off the kitchen and placed upstairs at a great seat for one. Overlooking the square and lock. Waiter came over I ordered a wine and pizza. I found this place to be a nice spot and would definitely go back. Good food and service.

Not sure why this has such a low rating. It's good Italian food (for West Yorkshire) with a fantastic ambience. Went here with ten coworkers the other night and had a great meal. Thanks for the service!

LIVINitaly is located on Neville Street, which is like a little courtyard near/in Granary Wharf. There is a exit from Leeds Train station that will take you there but it's upstairs and out the back! -I wish I had known that rather than leaving out the front and having to walk all the way around under the bridge. I guess if you're visiting Leeds and not staying at the Doubletree Hilton (which is just opposite LIVINitaly and a few other restaurant/bars) you might not come across this little Italian restaurant/bar. The Mrs and I were looking for a hearty meal to line our stomachs but was not having much luck deciding what and where to go for we thought we'd just head back to the hotel and risk one of the restaurants along that stretch. We chose this place because as my Mrs always says 'how wrong can you go with Italian'. In the case if LIVINitaly I think the question is - just how right can you go with Italian. There's a long bar and open kitchen on the ground floor and upstairs more restaurant area which would be great for parties or groups. I really liked the hustle of the open kitchen and retro bar stools and art work all around. The music was upbeat and a good mix of genres without being loud and overbearing. We propped ourselves up on the bar by the window. There is a lot of really nice veggie/pescetarian options on the menu so it was hard to choose. in the end we both ordered the tuna Pizza of which is £2 cheaper if you wanted to take away - great tip if staying in the DoubleTree. The pizza base was thin and crispy, sauce rich and a really good load of toppings, caramelized onion, black olive, tuna and cheese. sturdy, oozing with cheese and full of sweet and salty flavors. Yum! Soo much Yum! There were some really great alcoholic and virgin cocktails available but they're really big on their wine. You can even take away (not drink in) a bottle of their own wine from £7.50 which is another handy tip if you want to be really anti-social in your hotel room. There's inside and outside seating, great drink deals, friendly Italian service and good tunes - I really do recommend this place and worth the 5 mins walk from the city centre shopping.

When I look out across the balcony from my flat, one of the things I can usually see is the VINeataly courtyard, choc full of people. This makes me jealous. Fact. I was impressed with VINeataly before it even opened and it's done everything right to keep me loving it! Prior to opening VINeataly marketed itself as being an authentic Italian wine bar that also does great food. The service is very good. Everyone seems happy to be working here and they always have a smile for the customers as well as being happy to talk to you about the menu or food and drinks. If you love wine, this is the place for you. Lots to choose from and with the added 'by the glass' wine dispenser you'll be able to try some great varieties that you might usually have to buy by the bottle. I've noticed lately that VINeataly is also becoming something of a cocktail lounge. They do a nice selection including one that has chocolate liqueur in it - booze and 'chocolate' - the best of all worlds in my view!! So you have wine, cocktails and you also have beer! A nice pint of Peroni on draught for less than £4! I've not tried the food yet so I can't comment but i'm definitely enjoying the beverages! HAPPY DAYS! Fantastico!

If you happen to be in the vicinity of the dark arches, peckish, and on the lookout for a piece of decadence and Mediterranean culture, look no further than this exquisite little establishment. In spite of being rather green on the scene, it's beautifully decked out, with a fully fledged menu boasting all kinds of fantastic Italian fare. Of course, I can foresee this place fast becoming a coveted hotspot given the perfect al fresco arrangement, which overlooks the lovely Granary Wharf. And what an addition to the area! My friends and I took advantage of the outdoor seating to grab some lunch, and we couldn't have picked a better place. The late afternoon sun was still in full glory, helping to add to the ambience, in what truly felt like a transcendence from Leeds to some more exotic clime. It was the amazing edibles that we dined on that completed the ruse of being somewhere far away: we delighted over a smattering of delicious meats, rocket salads, fresh plump olives, the most delectably baked focaccia, divinely creamy mozzarella, and chicken salad with crispy pancetta. Each bite was as fresh and flavoursome as the next, and should be enjoyed over a good hour, with fine conversation and probably excellent wine. (We had forgone the wine, but I won't next time.) I understand that they have a wine machine where you can sample the varieties for 90p, and once you've decided, pick away and put it on a special chip and pin card. I believe you'd pay off the card at the counter, which could make for a dangerous game when you've free reign to help yourself, but let me update and tell you how that goes when I have my very own. So, why only four stars? Well. It was only my first visit, and whilst everything was impeccable (although, just to nit pick the bill did take a wee while - which just goes to show how relaxed it all is) I'm going to make it my mission to return and update. Essentially, I'm overly tempted to keep this gem to myself, but I can't see it staying secret for long. The quality, location, vibe, and staff are simply too good. Can I ask a favour? Save me a seat if you're headed over, it's my new favourite place. I'm great company, I promise!
